News and Announcements

Join us for an evening of "No Place For Hate" parent education, 11/30, 7:30 - 9 pm in the AMS Library

AMS has been working with the Anti-Defamation League to designate our middle school as a No Place For Hate school. This work requires involvement from the whole community - staff, students, and parents - and includes anti-bias, diversity and equity training from the ADL. Teachers and student leaders have already received this training, and now it is parents' turn! Please come to the November AMS PTA meeting on Thursday, 11/30, at 7 pm in the AMS library, and stay for a facilitated discussion about bullying, bullying prevention, cyberbullying and the parent role with Jacqueline Regev, Education Director with the Anti-Defamation League. AHS parents are also welcome to join the "No Place For Hate" parent education starting at 7:30 PM.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Announcement - Please Read

We are so excited to have construction begin on our new AMS campus and all the positives that will come with it, but we will also need to be strategic and patient dealing with impact on drop off and pick up.

Traffic and parking on Brighton is increasingly congested, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. Please consider dropping off and picking up your students on Masonic and Key Route to help alleviate the bottleneck during these times. Also, please insist that your child cross the street in a crosswalk.

Additionally, the Spokane cul-de-sac behind the school is strictly off limits for drop-off and pick-up. Our district vans and trucks need access through the cul-de-sac, and there is an agreement with neighbors not to use that street. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

Become a volunteer writer coach!

WriterCoach Connection works with every 8th grader at AMS each winter. For eight weeks trained coaches meet one-on-one with students, during English class, to give feedback on their writing. Now is the time to learn about this volunteer activity and decide if it’s a good fit for you. Sign up for a one-hour orientation at or get in touch with the AMS site coordinators, Mary Flaherty & Nick Keefe: The program is open to all adults, not just AMS parents, so share this with friends and relatives. Thanks for considering it!
