November is National Native American Heritage Month, which celebrates the history and contributions of Native Americans. In May 1942, 29 Navajo recruits attended boot camp at Camp Pendleton in Southern California. This first group of "Navajo Code Talkers" are renowned for creating a virtually unbreakable military code used by the U.S. military during World War II.

The bike racks in front of and across from the office are for staff only.

Don’t miss your chance to design the cover of the yearbook! Ms. Lewit is accepting art showing life at AMS through this Wednesday, November 8th.

The last canned food turn in date is this Wednesday, November 8th. We need to fill those barrels! Please contribute what you CAN. If everyone in the school brought in just one can, we could fill the barrels in a flash.

The next student council meeting is this Wednesday, November 8th at 7:30 am in the AMS library.

Science Bowl will take a break this week. We will meet again next Monday.

At lunch today:

Don’t forget to turn in any extra Halloween candy to the bin in the front office! We’re still collecting for At the Crossroads, a local organization that helps homeless youth. The last day to turn in candy will be this Wednesday, November 8th.
