Albany Middle School is a school community dedicated to learning. The mission of providing a rich and rigorous standards-based curriculum is guided by our vision statement: In a safe, engaging environment, each member of the AMS community strives toward excellence, acceptance of differences, exploration of ideas, and responsibility to a larger world. At AMS everybody teaches; everybody learns.

WEB (Where Everybody Belongs)

WEB is a robust, student-led, orientation (and program) for our incoming 6th graders. The WEB student leaders receive extensive training allowing them to help our incoming 6th graders feel welcomed, connected, and supported. WEB is fun, positive, and all about building connections. WEB leaders have a big role in creating the school culture for our 6th graders. This role continues throughout the school year where they will provide support and build their relationship with our new 6th graders.

Building Effective Schools Together (BEST)

BEST is a Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support program, an evidence-based framework for supporting students in choosing positive behaviors. As part of BEST, we explicitly teach school-wide expectations, ensuring that each student knows what it means to “Be Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and an Ally” in all different settings in our school. We use positive ways to recognize and encourage students to be successful in their behaviors in school.
