Each year around this time, charitable organizations ask to be remembered as people plan their end-of-year donations. This year, "Giving Tuesday" will be on December 2. Giving Tuesday was born in 2012 in response to the consumerism of "Black Friday" to shift the focus to generosity and community engagement. It has grown into a global movement based on giving back to your community and the world.

If you are able to donate, please consider the local organizations listed in the graphic below. These all-volunteer organizations work year-round to benefit Albany students in very meaningful ways—by supporting staff directly, providing grants to teachers, and through dozens of teams, events, and projects that enrich our students' education. If you are not able to make a donation, Giving Tuesday is also about giving time and effort. Consider putting in a few volunteer hours with the organizations that most inspire you.
