Instructional Content Opt-Out Form

As part of our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment, the Albany Unified School District uses a variety of inclusive and culturally responsive literature and lessons. These materials are carefully selected to reflect the diverse identities, experiences, and backgrounds of our students, staff, and families, and may include LGBTQ+ characters and people. 

If you wish to opt your child out of specific topics or lessons based on sincerely held religious beliefs, please complete the form attached and submit it to your school office. This notification and any opt-outs submitted are valid only for the current school year. A new opt-out form must be completed each school year. Students who opted out of selected classroom instruction will be assigned an alternative activity in an alternative location (e.g., the office, library, or another classroom) during that time. No student will be disciplined for opting out.

*Note: This is NOT an opt-out from the Human Growth and Development lessons, which have a separate opt-out available.

Como parte de nuestro compromiso con un entorno seguro e inclusivo, el Distrito de Albany  utiliza una variedad de literatura y lecciones inclusivas y culturalmente sensibles. Estos materiales se seleccionan cuidadosamente para reflejar las diversas identidades, experiencias y orígenes de nuestros estudiantes, personal y familias, y pueden incluir personajes y personas LGBTQ+.

Si desea excluir a su hijo de temas o lecciones específicos debido a creencias religiosas sinceras, complete el formulario archivo adjunto y envíelo a la oficina. Esta notificación y cualquier solicitud de exclusión voluntaria presentada son válidas únicamente durante este año escolar. Se debe completar un nuevo formulario de exclusión voluntaria cada año escolar. A los estudiantes que opten por no recibir instrucción en determinadas aulas se les asignará una actividad alternativa en una ubicación distinta o alternativa (por ejemplo, la oficina, la biblioteca u otra aula) durante ese tiempo. Ningún estudiante será sancionado por no participar.
