Dear AMS Families,

Don't miss our upcoming Parent Education session and our PTA Association Meeting on Thursday, March 5, from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm, in person in the AMS Library. Here's our schedule:

6:30 pm - 7:00 pm: PTA Association Meeting -- check out the agenda at the end of this message.

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm: "Preparing Your Child for the Transition to High School" panel and discussion with guests Becca Burns & Sara Hinkley.

Becca Burns has been with AUSD for 20 years, including 14 as a high school counselor with additional experience in various support roles at AHS and AMS. She also has two students in the district (11th grade and kindergarten).

Sara Hinkley is President of the AHS PTSA and served on the Albany school board from 2018–2022. She works at the Center for Cities + Schools at UC Berkeley. She is the parent of a junior at AHS and a 2024 AHS graduate.

We're fortunate to have some in-person time with these great guests to hear about their experiences and their advice for middle school families and students. Bring your questions and concerns! Families with students in all AMS grades, 6th, 7th, and 8th, are welcome. The event is geared toward adult parents, guardians, and caregivers, but it is OK to have your child attend with you. Spread the word!
