AMS Weekly School Bulletin for Friday, October 16, 2026

Good Evening AMS Community,
Today marks the end of the first quarter at AMS! To celebrate, our 7th and 8th graders are having their first school dance in the AMS Courtyard tonight. It has been a great start to the year, and we are very proud of our students and all they have accomplished so far.
Thank you to all of our parents and caregivers for being active, positive partners in your child's growth. Middle school is such an important time in a student's K–12 journey, and the partnership between home and school makes a real difference.
This week, I took a few opportunities to count the number of students riding bikes, scooters, and skateboards to school. On average, approximately 90 students ride bikes each day, along with several students who ride scooters and skateboards. Many more students walk to school. I share this as a reminder to please slow down and be especially careful when driving around AMS, particularly during arrival and dismissal. Student safety is our number one priority, and we all play a role in keeping our students safe.
I also want to thank all the parents and caregivers who attended Wednesday night's PTA Association Meeting and Parent Education Night. Finally, thank you to everyone who comes out to support our students at athletic events, concerts, performances, field trips, and other school activities. Your presence, encouragement, and involvement mean so much to our students and help make AMS such a strong community.
I hope everyone enjoys the weekend, and I look forward to another great quarter ahead!
Go Cobras!

AMS is a Nut Free School. Please do not have your child bring nuts for their lunch or as a snack. We have many students that have life threatening nut allergies.
We currently have 36 clubs for students to join! Most occur during the school day at lunch, but a few do meet after school. For a full list, click HERE.
Please click on the link for a more detailed list of family reminders and important information.
Please make sure to respond to the daily attendance notice from school is your student is absent and you did not respond before receiving the phone call reminder. If the absence is not cleared, the absence will be recorded as unverified.

Friday, October 23 is our first AMS teacher and staff lunch of the year. This is a special and important event in which we cater a meal for all the AMS teachers and staff who work so hard to support our kids. Sign up here to contribute food, items, or finances to the staff lunch! The annual 6th Grade Halloween Party is on Friday, October 30! Lots of parent/guardian help will be needed to make the day a success. We especially need people to donate more large pumpkins to the event. If you’d like to volunteer to help out on Friday, October 30, you can sign up here. Make sure to do your Volunteer I paperwork with the district as well.
Donation Requests for the Auction - We are gearing up our annual online Auction fundraiser being held early December. Donations of experiences, services and/or items would contribute greatly to the success of the fundraiser. Are you a professional who could offer your services as a donation or a signup party - architecture / interior design consult, poker party, wine-tasting evening, painting class, hiking expedition, homemade specialty dinners? Other much-loved items may be season tickets to sporting events, tickets to cultural / musical performances, weekend getaways at a lovely vacation home? We welcome all ideas and gifts. Please email Tarry Chung at tarrychung@yahoo.com
