PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Good Evening AMS Community,

We hope everyone had a great week at AMS!

Today's 6th Grade Halloween Party was a spooky success! A very special thank-you to our amazing 6th-grade teachers who put in extra time and effort to make this event happen again this year. I had the opportunity to ask a few students how they enjoyed the party, and the response was unanimous, they had a great time!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween tomorrow! A couple of important reminders: Candy should be left at home and should not be brought to school next week. Also, AMS is a nut-free school, so please make sure that students do not bring any food containing nuts to campus.

Our 6th graders have also been enjoying their class field trips to Bridges Climbing Gym over the past few weeks. From what I've heard, students have had a great time climbing, challenging themselves, and trying something new!

For both the Halloween party and the climbing field trips, I want to extend a huge thank-you to all of the parents and caregivers who volunteered their time and energy. These events would not be possible without your support and involvement. We truly appreciate everything you do for our students and our school community!

Congratulations to our Science Olympiad team, which competed in a national competition last week and did exceptionally well! Our students finished in the top three in many categories. This is a tremendous accomplishment, and we are proud of all the students who represented AMS. Congratulations as well to our Varsity Girls Cross Country team, which won the EBMSL Championship this week! What a great accomplishment for our Cobras. Go Cobras!

A couple of reminders as we head into the weekend. Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour this Sunday for the end of Daylight Saving Time.

I also encourage everyone to attend the 17th Annual Albany Community Craft Fair on Sunday, November 8, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the AMS Gym. This is a wonderful community event and a fundraiser for the AMS PTA. There will be more than 100 local crafters, delicious food, slushies, desserts, live music, candy, and plenty more. It's a great event for the whole family!

The organizers are also looking for volunteers to help make the event a success. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/2026AMSCraft.

They are also accepting candy and snack donations and are looking for student musicians from Albany who might be interested in performing during the event. If you have questions or would like more information, please reach out to amsartsandcraftsfair@gmail.com

Thank you for continuing to support our students, our PTA, and the AMS community. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Have a wonderful weekend, and Go Cobras!

Mr. Mapes

Other much-loved items may be season tickets to sporting events, tickets to cultural / musical performances, weekend getaways at a lovely vacation home? We welcome all ideas and gifts.
