Today, let's remember why we observe Memorial Day. On Memorial Day, we honor the military veterans who died in wars fought by American forces. Who are the people who serve our country today? Well, about 15% of active-duty military personnel are women. More than 40% of active-duty military are African American, Latinx, Asian, or from another ethnic minority group. We thank all Americans in the military for their service.

Calling all 8th grade artists! We’re looking for two fantastic pieces of artwork to grace the front and back of the promotion program. The art should say something like “AMS Promotion 2019”, be black and white, and fit on a half-page. Examples from past years can be found in the main office. Please turn your designs into the main office by Tuesday, May 28th.
All 8th graders are invited to the Albany High Athletics Fair that will take place in the Albany Middle School gym on May 31st at lunch. It is a chance for 8th graders to come and see what sports are offered at AHS for next year, to talk with coaches and players, ask questions, and sign up to receive emails. AHS offers 17 different sports as well as two club sports that will be represented at the fair.
Cross Country runners, join your coaches for our annual fun run this Thursday May 30th. Meet your coaches on the black top at 3:20. Come dressed to run.
