Today marks the beginning of Transgender Awareness Week. Transgender refers to a person whose gender identity does not match the person’s biological sex. Transgender people may additionally identify as straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, and so on. This week is a time where transgender individuals and their allies raise awareness to reduce prejudice of the transgender community and encourage equal treatment. Check out our transgender pride flag hanging in the atrium and join the Gender and Sexualities Alliance in supporting transgender youth.
