Dear Albany Community,
I thoroughly enjoyed the Senior Walk at Cornell on Wednesday. As I was walking inside the Cornell gate with four of our graduating seniors, one of our little students looked up at the students in their caps and gowns and asked, “Are you a senior?” I saw tears in the eyes of our senior parents as well as a couple of teachers and district staff that had their own children walking with the graduating class.
The elementary students loved celebrating the graduates and the seniors were pleased to go back to their elementary school and show how far they have come. The Senior Walks gave teachers a chance to explain to elementary students what happens when you graduate and even the next steps after graduation. Thanks to everyone who helped make this great event happen.
Albany High Students Receive Awards
The AHS Ultimate Frisbee Club Team won the USA Ultimate California State Championship this past weekend! Their dedication and hard work truly paid off as they secured a thrilling victory against Berkeley High School by just one point in the final match. Great job, Cougars! Junior Sean Vorhis won his second straight state championship in the 100-yard freestyle race at the California Interscholastic Federation Para-Athlete Division swimming championships! He shaved five seconds off his 2023 time and also won 2nd place in the 50-yard freestyle. Congratulations to these fine athletes!
The AHS Physics Bowl Team placed fourth in our region, and an absolutely amazing tenth nationwide. Team member Sam Rothstein scored in the Global Top 100. We are so proud of Sam and this team!
Twelve AHS students won awards in the 2024 National Spanish Exam. Pia Ferus-Comelo not only won a gold medal in the National Spanish Exam, she also won First Place in the California Teachers Association César Chávez and Dolores Huerta Essay Contest for the second year in a row. What an accomplishment!
Safety Plans
The safety of all of our students is of paramount importance. It is something we plan for and deal with daily. It is important to note that all Site Safety Plans are developed and approved following California Education Code guidelines and timelines, which require that plans are approved by school Site Councils and by the Board of Education annually. Approved Site Safety Plans can be found under the “Our School’ tab on all elementary school websites, under the “About Us” tab on the AMS and AHS websites. Caminatas para estudiantes de último año y estudiantes de Albany High reciben premios, planes de seguridad y eventos de promoción/graduación
Querida comunidad de Albany,
Disfruté muchísimo la caminata para personas mayores en Cornell el miércoles. Mientras caminaba por la puerta de Cornell con cuatro de nuestros estudiantes de último año que se graduaban, uno de nuestros pequeños estudiantes miró a los estudiantes con sus togas y birretes y les preguntó: "¿Son ustedes un estudiante de último año?". Vi lágrimas en los ojos de nuestros padres mayores, así como de un par de maestros y personal del distrito que tenían a sus propios hijos caminando con la clase de graduados.
A los estudiantes de primaria les encantó celebrar a los graduados y los estudiantes del último año estaban contentos de regresar a su escuela primaria y mostrar lo lejos que han llegado. Las Senior Walks brindaron a los maestros la oportunidad de explicar a los estudiantes de primaria lo que sucede cuando se gradúa e incluso los siguientes pasos después de la graduación. Gracias a todos los que ayudaron a que este gran evento sucediera.

¡El equipo AHS Ultimate Frisbee Club ganó el Campeonato Estatal de Ultimate California de EE. UU. el fin de semana pasado! La seguridad de todos nuestros estudiantes es de suma importancia. Es algo que planificamos y tratamos a diario. アルバニーコミュニティの皆様へ
水曜日のコーネル大学でのシニアウォークを心から楽しみました。卒業生 4 名とコーネル大学の門の中を歩いていると、小さな生徒の 1 人が帽子とガウンを着た生徒たちを見上げて、「あなたはシニアですか?」と尋ねました。卒業生と一緒に歩いていたシニアの親たちや、自分の子どもを連れていた数名の教師や地区職員の目に涙が浮かんでいるのが見えました。
小学生たちは卒業生を祝うのが大好きで、上級生たちは小学校に戻って自分たちがどれだけ成長したかを見せることができて喜んでいました。シニアウォークは、教師たちが小学生に卒業したら何が起こるのか、卒業後の次のステップについてまで説明する機会となりました。この素晴らしいイベントの実現に協力してくださった皆様に感謝します。
アルバニー高校の生徒が賞を受賞
AHS アルティメット フリスビー クラブ チームは、先週末に行われた USA アルティメット カリフォルニア州選手権で優勝しました。彼らの献身と努力は報われ、最終戦でバークレー高校にわずか 1 ポイント差で勝利しました。クーガーズの皆さん、よくやった! ジュニアのショーン ヴォルヒスは、カリフォルニア州高校連盟パラアスリート部門水泳選手権の 100 ヤード自由形レースで、2 年連続で州選手権に優勝しました。彼は 2023 年の記録を 5 秒短縮し、50 ヤード自由形でも 2 位を獲得しました。これらの素晴らしいアスリートの皆さん、おめでとうございます!

나는 수요일에 코넬에서 시니어 워크를 정말 즐겼습니다. 제가 졸업하는 선배 네 명과 함께 코넬 교문 안으로 들어가고 있을 때, 어린 학생 중 한 명이 모자와 가운을 입은 학생들을 올려다보며 “ 선배입니까?”라고 물었습니다. 저는 졸업반과 함께 걸어가는 자녀를 둔 선배 부모님들과 두 명의 교사 및 지역 직원들의 눈에서 눈물을 흘리는 것을 보았습니다.
초등학생들은 졸업식을 축하하는 것을 좋아했고 선배들은 초등학교로 돌아가 자신들이 얼마나 멀리 왔는지 보여주어 기뻐했습니다. Senior Walks를 통해 교사들은 초등학생들에게 졸업하면 어떤 일이 일어나는지, 졸업 후 다음 단계까지 설명할 수 있는 기회를 가졌습니다. 이 훌륭한 행사가 열릴 수 있도록 도와주신 모든 분들께 감사드립니다.
