Speak Up Be Safe Passive Consent Forms

6th Grade, Albany Middle School

Three years ago, AUSD adopted the Speak Up Be Safe curriculum created by the Childhelp organization. Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is a research-based, comprehensive child abuse and bullying prevention education curriculum equipping students nationwide with skills they need to play a significant role in the prevention or interruption of abuse and bullying. Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe covers topics such as physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, bullying and cyberbullying, all at an age-appropriate level.

In the coming weeks, all sixth grade students will be receiving their grade level’s Speak Up Be Safe two-part lesson series.  A form reviewing the key ideas of the curriculum will be going home with your child this week. Please return this form to your child’s teacher only if you do not wish for your child to participate in these lessons.

For more information on the curriculum, please email Sarah Leslie-Hayes at sleslie@ausdk12.org. Alternatively, more information can be obtained at www.speakupbesafe.org.
