Happy New Year! Here is the new year's diversity announcement. On January 15th this year, the country remembers the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the recipient of the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize and an activist for non-violent social change until his assassination in 1968. Connected to Dr. King's civil rights vision, in 1968, students at San Francisco State College and the University of California at Berkeley students successfully striked for more programs about people of color. The student demonstrations led to the historic School of Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State College and the creation of Black Studies at the University of California at Berkeley.

Attention Artists! A new club is starting! This is an art club for 7th and 8th graders who are interested in creating a permanent piece of artwork for the school library. Each student will receive a blank ceiling tile to paint inspired by a famous book. Please check out the ceiling tiles that are already up in the library for examples. If this is something you are interested in you MUST attend an information meeting in the art room. This meeting will be this Thursday, January 11th during lunch. The meeting starts at 12.45. You may bring your lunch.

The next Student Council meeting is this Wednesday, January 10th, at 7:30 am in the AMS library.
