Congratulations to ALL of the brilliant spellers who participated in the AMS Spelling Bee. We went through 17 tough rounds (and about 140 words!). Aaron Coon and Elias Gardizi tied for 6th grade spelling champions. The 8th grade spelling champion is Molly Virtue. And our schoolwide champion is 7th grader Colette Kolodny, who will represent AMS at the local semifinal round in February. Congratulations also to Max Chien, who was a fierce competitor to the end. You all did a wonderful job!
Calling all artists! AMS needs two great pieces of artwork for this year's Unity Week T-Shirt. The designs should symbolize "unity" and must clearly include the words, "AMS Unity Week." Draw your design in black ink on white, printer-sized paper. The winning artists get $50 cash prizes! Designs are due to Ms. Uyeda's mailbox by Friday, January 26.
Attention 8th graders: If you would like to see yourself in the yearbook on the the 8th Grade Kiddie Page, please bring a photograph of yourself as a toddler or child to Ms Lewit in the library. Don’t forget to write your name on the back of the photo - they will be returned to you in March! You or your parent can also email it to Ms. Lewit - please ask in the library for the exact spelling of her email address. The very last day to submit one is next Friday, January 19th.
Students, please do not have food delivered to school for lunch. If you do have food delivered, we will hold it in the office until the end of the day.
At lunch today:
- Garden club is meeting with Mrs Covarrubias in portable 4. Bring your lunch!
- Check out Lunch Crew in the Counseling Offices - students can eat lunch, play games, and meet new people. Come by yourself, or bring a friend!
