On Wednesday, March 21st, AMS will be having their first Kick Butts Day. Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against big tobacco companies. Each year, over 1,000 events take place across the United States.   As you enter school, we will have “Walk of Shame” display where students will see pictures and facts of famous public figures that have dealt with drug or alcohol abuse. At lunch we will be hosting a scavenger hunt in the gym looking at the advertising campaigns of e-cigarette/vaping companies. Prizes will be awarded to students that complete the scavenger hunt correctly.

This week for Women's History Month, we’re recognizing Bessie Bruington Burke. In 1918, Burke became the first African American principal of a public school in Los Angeles, and was later one of the first African American principals in a racially integrated school. She had a long career as an educator dedicated to public service and her students.

At lunch today:

  • PEAK students have a very important meeting in Room 204. See you there!
  • Earth Team is meeting in room 107
  • Dance tickets will be on sale for $5 starting at 12:30

Stage Crew is meeting after school on Thursday at 3:15 in the art room.

Come out and support the AMS Boys/Girls Wrestling team as they host Bancroft Middle School in the gym today at 4:00pm. Please remember that bicycles, scooters, outside basketballs and food are not allowed in the gym.
