End-of-Year Information for Families of 8th Graders

April 25, 2018
Dear AMS Families,
It’s hard to believe that there’s less than two months left in your 8th grader’s middle school career! I want to give you this information early so that you will know what to expect. I will be writing again when it gets closer with this information again.
Your child will receive promotion tickets on Friday, May 25th. Each child will receive 4 tickets. If you don't need that many, you will be asked to return what you don't need. If you'd like more than the four, then at that time (not now!), you will be allowed to request up to two additional tickets online by filling out this form. At that time, you will be put on a list and tickets will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
The important dates and events are as follows:
Wednesday, June 13th (8am-2:10pm)
We will be practicing for promotion that day and anticipate releasing students at 2:10pm. However, if we are not done by 2:10pm, we may need to keep the students a little longer and ask that all students stay so that they are properly prepared for the promotion ceremony.
Thursday, June 14th
We will be having our Awards Ceremony (students only) from 10:15-11:30am and then will release the 8th graders after that so that they can have time to get ready for Promotion. If you do not want your child to be released at 11:30am, please let us know ahead of time.
5:00-6:30pm - Promotion Ceremony in the Albany High School gym.
8th Graders should arrive at 4:15pm behind the gym where they lined up for promotion practice. Please remember that we do ask students to follow the dress code during the promotion ceremony and the promotion dance. It can be found in our student handbook in your child’s planner and on our webpage.
8-10pm - Promotion Dance
Friday, June 15th
Six Flags- Students should arrive at school at 8:30am and will return at about 3:30pm.
They should report to the lunch shelter.
Thank you,
Deb Brill, Principal
