Announcements: Monday, May 14th

Good morning! May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States. The month of May was chosen because of the first Japanese immigrant to the U.S. on May 7, 1843, and to honor the Chinese immigrant workers who labored to finish the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. May also is Older Americans Month and Jewish American Heritage month. Here is a quotation from famous Jewish American scientist, Albert Einstein: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”  Don't forget Memorial Day, on May 28th, established to honor military veterans who died in wars fought by American forces.

Attention, All Students! It's #BeautifulCommunity month. One way we're helping our community is by donating new, in-the-package socks and pajamas to local foster families. Please bring donations to your Advisory class on Wednesday.

At lunch today:

  • Latino Club is meeting in Portable 2
  • DGSA is meeting in room 210

Calling all 8th grade artists! We’re looking for two fantastic pieces of artwork to grace the front and back of the promotion program. The art should say something like “AMS Promotion 2018”, be black and white, and fit on a half-page. Examples from past years can be found in the main office or with Ms Luci. Please turn your designs into the main office by Tuesday, May 29th.

Alice in Wonderland, Jr. is coming up this Thursday through Sunday! Tickets are on sale now for $10 in the office during lunch or after school or online at Brown Paper Tickets. The performances will be at the AHS Little Theater on May 17th, 18th, and 19th at 7 pm and on May 20th at 2 pm. We hope to see you there!
