This week for Latinx Heritage Month, we recognize Sonia Maria Sotomayor. She is the first justice of the Supreme Court to be of Hispanic or Latinx descent. She once said, "Until we get equality in education, we won't have an equal society."

If you would like to create a piece of art that will be on the cover of the 2019 AMS Yearbook, please submit a VERTICAL drawing, cartoon, collage, or computer-generated piece of art to Ms Lewit in the library; all entries are due by Friday, October 19.  If you have any questions, please ask Ms Lewit.

Congratulations to Adrian Chuang for winning the Skittles Guessing competition at our GSA Club Table on Friday.  Adrian, please come by our GSA meeting today at lunch in room 201 or see Ms. Lauriks at the end of the day in the Counseling Offices to collect your skittles.

Students, guardians, and teachers at AMS will celebrate International Walk and Roll to School Day this Wednesday, October 3rd. This is a great opportunity to celebrate our health, the environment, and our school spirit. We’re hoping every student can participate by either walking, biking/boarding, or carpooling to school. Those who can’t carpool could have their families drop them off a few blocks away and walk. Students can check out the courtyard on Wednesday morning for small prizes to those who participate.

At lunch today:

  • Earth Team will be having our first meeting of the year in room 109.  New members welcome! Come see what we have planned for the year!
  • No noontime sports today.  See you tomorrow!
  • GSA is meeting in room 201.

Cross Country runners, your next meet is this afternoon at King Middle School in Berkeley.  Buses load right after school. You will need to be in uniform and ready to race.
