Wow, all I can say is wow! Cobrachella is still on my mind – the music, the food, the activities, the MUSIC! Thank you! Thank you to everyone who attended this inspired event and a special thank you to everyone who worked to make it happen, including Adrianne Cabanatuan, Andrew Sullivan, Christina Godfrey, Christine Adams, Dorothe Piluso, Elena Cole, Erika Ferguson, Jen Gripman, Julianne Sterling, Julie Brady, Kat Gilpatrick, Mike LaFranco, Neo Serafimidis, Phil Horton Ruta LaFranco, Sarah Serafimidis, Shannon Hicks, Shari Fredrickson, Shelley Bryant, Susan Marcus, Tim Ferdun and Victoria Kaye-Berger. CAASPP Scores

SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENT CONSORTIUM (SBAC) REPORTING OF SCORES

Individual score reports for English and Math for students in grades 3-8 and Grade 11 will be mailed home to parents sometime in late summer or early fall. For more details about these assessments, visit this website: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sa/sbacsummative.asp

There will be no individual score reports for Science for students in grades 5, 8, and Grade 10. The CA Department of Education administered these new tests as a pilot program and no scores will be provided. For more information about the new Next Generation Science assessments, visit this website: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/caasppscience.asp.

6/7th Grade:
Monday = Regular Day
Tuesday= Regular Schedule
Lake Anza for: Fryer, Bryndza, Backowski, Penney/Cox, Pace
Wednesday= Wednesday Schedule
Lake Anza for Clark, Anderson, Mann, Morris, Loftus
Thursday/Friday = End of Quarter Schedule

8th Grade:
Monday/Tuesday = regular days
Wednesday, June 14th (8am-2:10pm)
We will be practicing for promotion that day and anticipate releasing students at 2:10pm. However, if we are not done by 2:10pm, we may need to keep the students a little longer and ask that all students stay so that they are properly prepared for the promotion ceremony.

Thursday, June 15th
We will be having our (students only) Awards Ceremony from 10:15-11:30am and then will release the 8th graders after that so that they can have time to get ready for Promotion. If you do not want your child to be released at 11:30am, please let us know ahead of time.

5:00-6:30pm - Promotion Ceremony in the Albany High School gym.
8th Graders should arrive at 4:15pm behind the gym where they lined up for promotion practice.
Please remember that we do ask students to follow the dress code during the promotion ceremony and the promotion dance. It can be found in our student handbook in your child’s planner and on our webpage.

8-10pm Promotion Dance

Friday, June 16th
Six Flags- Students should arrive at school at 8:30am and will return at about 3:30pm.
They should report to the lunch shelter.

Finally, I would like to mention that if your family has extra promotion tickets, we ask that they be turned in to the school office as soon as possible so that we can give tickets to other families that have requested them. Thank you for your help with this.

8th Grade Families

Hello 8th Grade Families,
We want to let you know what is coming as your child's time at AMS comes to a close.

It is hard to believe that the school year is coming to a close and that these 8th graders are preparing to end their middle school careers and begin the next stage of their lives at Albany High School!

Student Valuables

Recently there have been reports of money and other valuable items being stolen from students backpacks while at school. This is happening while backpacks are unattended either during lunch or PE. While our administrative team is working on investigating the thefts and holding students accountable for their actions, we'd also like to ask families to speak with students about not bringing valuable items to school. If this can't be avoided, please have your student keep their valuables on them or in their PE/school locker. Lastly, please encourage your student to report any stolen items to Mr. Haupert or another adult. Together, we can make our school a safer place.
