Checking AERIES for Grades

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to use the AERIES Parent Portal to check your student's work completion, academic progress, and grades.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to check your student’s grades and academic progress in their classes. First, you’ll need to sign into the AERIES parent portal (which is accessible via the AMS website). Once at the sign-in page, enter your associated email address and click next. Then enter your password and click sign in. This will bring you to the homepage for the parent portal where you have a host of useful information. To get a quick snapshot of your student’s academic progress, the class summary section in the middle of the page provides you with your student’s current classes, teachers, links to specific gradebooks, their current grade in the class, any missing assignments they might have, their attendance over the past five days, links to class websites if available, and the date when the gradebook was last updated. This information is also available by selecting ‘Grades’ from the top menu and then selecting ‘Gradebooks’. You can see class specific assignments and scores by clicking on the gradebook link from the class summary on the homepage or by clicking on the details icon from the gradebooks page. In the gradebook, you can see the following information: The course and grading period, The teacher’s email address, A list of past, current, and sometimes future assignments, The grading category for each assignment. After an assignment is graded and entered into AERIES, you can see detailed information such as: The score your student received, Their % score on the assignment, The completion and due dates, Whether or not grading is complete. Typically, if a student did not turn in an assignment, the teacher won’t enter a score and the assignment will show as red or missing. This function is helpful when reviewing AERIES with your student to ensure they are completing and turning in all assignments. At the bottom of the gradebook page, you’ll see categorical grades and the overall grade in the class. The categorical grades shows you the grading category (such as homework or tests), the % of the overall grade the category represents, the total number of categorial points your student has earned, the total number of points possible, their current category percent and mark. You’ll then see the overall grade for the class. Lastly, you can navigate from class to class via the drop-down menu.
