Picture Makeup Day will be next Wednesday, October 10th, for students that need to take or retake their pictures. If your student will be taking pictures for the first time, you can order online at mylifetouch.com with the Picture Day ID: BY118063Q1 or have your student pick up an order form in the main office. If your student is going to retake their pictures, please have them bring their original package to the retakes.

School Site Council (SSC) is an important governing group on the school campus. The SSC meets approximately once per month to review our Single Plan for Student Achievement and to guide our work towards our goals. SSC members typically serve for two consecutive years. This year, we have two parent/community seats currently in the middle of their term. We have three parent/community seats open and we need to host a ballot election for these seats to be filled. Please click through to see the candidates and their statements. You can vote until October 10th by emailing [email protected] directly or coming to the office for a paper copy.

Please join the AUSD PTAs this Wednesday in the AHS Little Theater (603 Key Route Boulevard) for a special forum with candidates running for the Albany Board of Education (aka the school board). There are a total of five candidates running for three open seats. School board members serve four-year terms. They set important policies and provide governance around budget, curriculum, staffing, facilities, and campus climate.

The five PTAs (AHS, AMS, Cornell, Ocean View and Marin) are jointly sponsoring this event to focus on the concerns of our school communities. Please come hear what the candidates have to say and let them know what issues and priorities you care about. You can submit questions at the event or online in advance at bit.ly/AlbanyForum.

Please join the AHS PTSA for a parent education night on what parents need to know about juuling and vaping, which are the current two big trends in teen tobacco and nicotine usage. The meeting will be held at Albany High School on Tuesday, October 9th from 8 to 9 pm.
