AMS Fall Magazine Fundraiser

Today AMS will kick off our annual magazine fundraiser with an assembly for all students that will explain how the fundraiser works and the incentives that students can earn if they participate in the fundraiser. Check out the video below for more information and to learn how to participate with your student. All monies raised through this fundraiser go to support student programs in the current school year. There is a component to this fundraiser that can take place online by sending emails or using social media to sell magazine subscriptions. As a school, we want to make sure that students are using technology and social media responsibly. Please remind your student to be safe online by not contacting, or sharing information, with anyone they don’t know. In addition, encourage them to check in with their parents or guardians before sending out any emails or before using social media as part of this fundraiser.

6th Grade Halloween Party Meeting, 10/4, 6:30 pm

That's right, it's time to start planning for the annual Sixth Grade Halloween Party! It is a tradition here at AMS to put on a Halloween Party for our sixth graders. This party is run by countless parent volunteers with the help of a teacher-facilitator. This year we will be holding our party on Wednesday, October 31 from 12:15 - 2:00 in the sixth grade hallway, classrooms, and school garden.

To make this work, we need parent volunteers to be in charge of an activity, help with an activity, or help decorate/clean up. If you are interested in helping out at this annual tradition, please know there are lots of volunteer opportunities. If you would like to learn more, please attend an informational meeting that will be held Thursday, October 4, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in Room 117.

Staff Appreciation Lunch, 9/26

Every month, the AMS PTA puts together a lunch for AMS staff to show appreciation, and the appreciation goes both ways! AMS staff always look forward to these lunches and appreciate the volunteers that help to make it happen. The next staff appreciation lunch is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 26th. We still need help with food donations and clean up, and we would appreciate any AMS community member who is willing to help! This month we're doing a end-of-summer garden theme. AUSD’s Budget Advisory Committee to Hold First Meeting on September 21st

At the September 11, 2018 Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed the members of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC). The purpose of the committee is to identify potential expenditure reductions to meet the School Board’s goal to balance the budget and evaluate consequences (pros and cons) associated with each. The Budget Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting on September 21st at 5:30 p.m. in the Albany Middle School Library. This meeting is open to the public.
